Most of my clients have issues with piles of paper accumulated over the months in their houses. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed by that and really hard to start cleaning it up once it’s all over the place.
You can avoid the piling up of your mail if you have an effective system to work on it. Here are my suggestions:
1- Sort it out everyday! Don’t leave it for the next day;
2- Open your mail close to the recycling bin, throw out all the excess paper and mass mail right away;
3- Have a “reading pile” but if you don’t read it in the same week, toss it;
4- File right away important documents in specific folders (you should have one for bank statements, another for medical information, paid bills, etc);
5- “Unsubscribe” to credit card offers and catalogs that you no longer want to receive (usually they inform a website where you can “opt-out”, it will take only a few minutes and you might be saving a tree)
